The Moorlands harness driving club is comprised of an assortment of people of all ages and backgrounds, all with a keen interest in pleasure driving and competing. The club is open to anyone with a safe horse and vehicle. We hold meetings on the second Tuesday of each month throughout the year and we have planned drives from April to December.
The drives usually last two to three hours and range from 12 to 15 miles. We start from different venues and cover the beautiful Staffordshire Moorlands and some of the outlying areas. We have a halfway stop to refresh the horses and get out the biscuits and when we return and have washed down the horses we enjoy a drink and sandwich and of course a chat and a laugh with friends about the drive.
Membership of the club is only £10 per annum, which includes a passenger, (This is advised for safety reasons). And it is compulsory for members to have adequate insurance for their horses. A copy of insurer’s details should be included with membership application.
If you would like to join our club you can download an application form to be returned to the club secretary or just come along to one of our meetings where you will receive a warm welcome and details of the drives we have planned for this year. Please contact the secretary for details of our next meeting as we often change venues usually around the Cheadle area.
